Taster Sessions
For just £40 (including your first year's branch membership of Eden Divers, worth £25, for free*) why not try scuba diving in a pool?
Our qualified instructors provide initial tuition on diving techniques and equipment, followed by a scuba dive in a swimming pool to make sure you get maximum enjoyment from your first time underwater.
All equipment is included - we generally run these sessions on Thursday evenings. A Try Dive can help you save time and money by finding out in advance if you like diving.
*Annual BSAC membership not included
Discovery Diver
At Eden Divers, we generally view this as an intermediate step for those who want to progress to Ocean Diver - but it can be run as a stand-alone course for those who only want to be able to do guided dives (accompanied by a Dive Leader, or higher) to a maximum depth of 12m.
To take this course, you must be a full BSAC member (£60.50pa) and member of Eden Divers (£25pa) and purchase a digital student pack (£27.50). All equipment can be provided (although we always recommend considering the purchase of a well-fitting wetsuit for open water!) but the cost of pool and lake entry is not, and you will be asked to cover the cost of gas bills. The course can take a few weeks to run and we usually recommend budgeting around £200 - £250 all-in (including memberships) for this course.
Ocean Diver
If you’re keen to learn to dive, the BSAC’s Ocean Diver course is ideal the place to start. This entry-level (full) open water diver qualification will equip you with the core skills to dive to a maximum of 20 metres in open water, in the UK and abroad with a buddy.
To take this course, you must be a full BSAC member (£60.50pa) and member of Eden Divers (£25pa) and purchase a digital student pack (£42.50). All equipment can be provided (although we always recommend considering the purchase of a well-fitting wetsuit for open water!) but the cost of pool and lake entry is not, and you will be asked to cover the cost of gas bills. The course can take a few months to run in full and we usually recommend budgeting around £250 - £300 all-in (including memberships) for this course.
Sports Diver
So you've caught the diving bug and want to develop your skills further? If you have an entry-level qualification and want to take your underwater adventures to the next level, Sports Diver is your next step in BSAC’s Diver Training Programme.
You will broaden your experience in a variety of challenging open-water conditions, and learn essential rescue and safety techniques to prepare you for diving to a maximum of 35 metres.
To take this course you must be a BSAC member (£60.50pa) and Eden Divers member (£25pa). You can continue to use club equipment while training (if you don't have your own). You must buy a training pack (£32.50) and cover the cost of lake entries and gas fills. Assuming you are already a member, this course can cost as little as £100 - though we recommending budgeting £150. The course can normally be run over a few weeks.
Dive Leader
As a Dive Leader you become an essential team member, and can help us (or other BSAC clubs) to organise activities. You will learn how to manage groups of divers, and develop your rescue-management skills.
The training also prepares you to dive to depths of up to 50 metres in a range of challenging conditions, following a series of post-qualification depth progression dives.
We expect Dive Leader candidates to own their own equipment - though the club will be able to lend a number of specialist items. The course may take several months but will be built around normal diving activities. In addition to your membership the pack costs £32.50 and you must cover your own diving costs.
